Getting Camera Ready
WHAT TO WEAR
Your wardrobe should complement your surroundings and be on-brand to your overall messaging. Avoid busy, small prints and overly saturated colors (like neon). They generally don’t photograph well.
Like to try two looks or outfits? We can accommodate!
Details matter. Consider complementary color schemes and coordinating outfits if multiple people will be featured in your photo.
HAIR & MAKEUP
This is a fun reason to treat yourself. Let us know if you’d like some recommendations – we have some folks we love working with!
We want you to feel comfortable and like yourself. If you’re not the glam type, don’t think twice!

BE PREPARED
The shoot time goes quickly, so please be camera ready! Once the TSG team arrives, we talk through the shoot, set up equipment, and begin shooting photographs and reviewing playbacks.
Spread scene set for shoot prior to our arrival. Consider the use of flowers or plants but remember when it comes to props, less is more. Only consider adding elements that align with your messaging.
Make sure area is clean and remove clutter. Hide wires and plugs from view, move furniture, background prepared, desks and counters cleared, tags removed, and racks merchandised, props unpacked, vignettes displayed.
HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Embrace “Plan B”. While we start with a plan, remember that some of the best images are ones captured at the end of the shoot.
We’ll be shooting tethered. We will ask you to view the photos as we go and select your favorite images onsite. This ensures we have “the shot” before leaving the shoot site.
Share your edit requests or preferences during the photoshoot. This helps save time and reduces emails on the final image selection process.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Sharing teasers from the photo shoot on IG stories is encouraged, as long as they don't give too much away! We will be sharing BTS images on our social media that you are welcome to repost.
Photos from the shoot will be kept under wraps until after the guide is released. We ask that the setting and wardrobe used for your TSG not be revealed prior to the print guide.
IN THE EVENT OF...
WEATHER
If your shoot is scheduled outdoors, we may occasionally have to reschedule due to poor conditions. We'll make the call 24-36 hours in advance.
RESHOOTS & EDITS + ADDITIONAL SHOOT TIME
Advertiser-elected reshoots or extensive edits will be billed at an additional fee at the discretion of the photographer.
Pending photographer availability, you can extend your shoot for an additional fee to be paid directly to the photographer if you would like headshots. Please make sure the look and feel of any personal images are different than the TSG shoot.
NEXT STEPS…
SELECTING YOUR SPREAD IMAGE
Within 10 days of the photo shoot, you will receive a link to a Google Drive folder via email with recommended spread photos.
We ask for your final photo selection(s) within 48 hours to give the photographer enough time to make photoshop edits before sending it to the graphic designer.
We encourage you to keep to photos natural but understand that a few extra tweaks are occasionally needed. Your photographer will only “clean up” the final image(s) that will be used in the spread.
Editing examples: removing light switches, electrical cords, smoothing stray hairs, fixing clothing wrinkles, etc.
Additional photos from the shoot will be used for TSG editorial and social media support throughout the year.
Creative Meeting Form (CMF): Please review this document carefully as the copy is what the TSG graphic designer will use to design your spread.
DESIGNING YOUR SPREAD
Design Schedule: The TSG designer team designs all spread during a short four week window. Spreads are typically approved within 2-3 rounds of edits, and the most successful designs have a detailed CMF communicating the vision to the graphic designer. Volume 3 design begins May 2023.
Spread Review & Feedback: Requires quick feedback on your end. We'll be sharing versions of your spread and requesting edits/approvals within 24 hours each time - please make these emails a priority so we can keep on track with the production timeline!
Spread Approval: As a reminder, your spread includes 2 complimentary design revisions. Any revisions beyond this are charged at $50/revision. Should there be any mistakes made by the graphic designer, you will not be charged.
